Wyclef Jean is an American Haitian who back in 2005 started the Yele Haiti Foundation. This man is a muscian and he was featured in Shakira's hips don't lie song. For the first few years of this Charity it did a lot of good work by helping the Haiti kids get scholarships to schools. In just two years they provided almost 7,000 for kids in just two years. After the earthquake in 2010 they wanted to try to produce at least 6,800 scholarships for kids. But according to some sources the Yele Gaiti foundation did not give all of the money they raised to help the earthquake victims. They raised $16 million and only $5.1 million was actually used to help the Haitians. That is only a third of the money raised was used.

Background of Earthquake
On January 12, 2010, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake occurred about 10 miles west of Haiti’s capital, Port-Au-Prince. Combined over 300,00 homes were damaged in someway, over 100,000 of those homes were destroyed completely. This earthquake left about 1.5 million Haitians homeless. They believe the death toll is some where between 200,000 - 250,000, they are not really sure how many have actually died because there were so many bodies not found and people are still reported missing. Americans donated $1.6 million
to the country of Haiti, Obama donated $200,000 himself. There are numerous charities now working to help rebuild the country of Haiti. Haiti's government said it would take at least $12 billion to do so.

Earthquake in Haiti
After all of the research that has been done, I have decided to make my cause of the after math of the earthquake in Haiti. It took me quite some time to find what I would be doing my research on because I realized while doing this that I am a heartless person and i do not really care so much for other people. I now understand that I really do not follow the ways of cosmopolitanism. I just do not care for anyone else but myself I guess. But hopefully when I am done I will have a different view on things in the world. I decided to do the earthquake in Haiti because of the affect it had on so many peoples lives. It left so many people without a home and many people lost a lot of their family and friends. This tragedy brought many people in this world together to help out the Haitian people.
